Grammage is the weight of paper per square metre and directly affects how a product feels in the hand. The most common values:
- Letterhead: 90–100 gsm uncoated
- Flyer: 115–170 gsm coated
- Brochure: 150–200 gsm coated
- Catalogue text: 115–170 gsm coated; cover 250–350 gsm
- Business card: 350 gsm coated or 400+ gsm specialty boards
- Folding carton: 270–400 gsm SBS/GC board or kraft
- Poster: 135–170 gsm coated
