Pikaj — imposition — is the craft of placing pages on the plate in the right order, direction and register.
Pikaj (imposition) is placing the pages or product layouts on the printing sheet in the right order, direction and register. Whether a catalogue reads in the right sequence after folding, or how many boxes a sheet yields, depends on good imposition.
In traditional printing, films were assembled by hand on a light table. Today this is done in software within digital workflows — but the craft behind it is unchanged: knowing grain direction, fold allowance, binding margin and cutting tolerances.
Pikaj Matbaa takes its name from this precision. On every job we first plan the most efficient imposition, minimising both cost and waste.
